The Rolling Water Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to transforming access
to water in rural communities through the ECOroller—a durable, sustainable solution that makes collecting water faster, safer, and less physically demanding.
Every day in rural Africa, women and children walk for hours beneath the sun, carrying heavy buckets of water on their heads. The strain steals their health, their energy, and their time—time that could be spent in school, earning an income, or nurturing a family.
The Rolling Water Foundation is committed to changing that story. Through
the ECOroller—a simple but life-changing 70-litre innovation—we turn hours
of backbreaking labor into a single roll. What once demanded exhausting journeys now becomes a manageable task, opening the door to
education, farming, and opportunity.
Our Legacy and Transformation
Before becoming the Rolling Water Foundation, we were known as the Roll-a-Hippo Foundation. For 11 years, this Canadian charity dedicated itself to tackling one of the greatest challenges facing rural communities in Southern Africa: access to water.
We have cultivated years of experience in distributing water rollers
throughout Southern Africa. Through strong partnerships with Rotary Clubs,
local organizations, and community leaders, the Roll-a-Hippo Foundation built
a reputation for accountability, transparency, and impact. Over the years,
we have distributed thousands of rollers, touching countless lives and
demonstrating the transformative power of practical, low-cost innovations.
This legacy is the cornerstone of our new chapter as the Rolling Water Foundation. While our name has changed, our mission has not. Our rebrand reflects our unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability, marking
a fresh chapter in our mission while honouring the legacy that shaped us.
